Brake master cylinder leak, recall expanded to this generation
majorNHTSA 20V-332 / 22V-150The same master-cylinder defect recalled on 2013–2014 trucks was expanded to 2014–2017 F-150s with the 3.5L EcoBoost (20V-332, Ford 20S31) and again to 2016–2017 trucks (22V-150, Ford 22S11). Symptoms: low/long pedal, fluid warning, front-brake fade. Dealers replace the master cylinder (and booster if contaminated) free.
Typical cost: Free under recall
Frozen/inoperative door latches (recall)
moderateNHTSA 17V-652 (Ford 17S33)Water intrusion freezes the door-latch actuation cables in cold climates, so doors won't open, won't latch, or can appear closed and swing open while driving. Ford recalled 2015–2017 trucks (17V-652, Ford 17S33): dealers install water shields and inspect/replace cables free of charge.
Typical cost: Free under recall
Seat belt pretensioner fires (recall)
majorNHTSA 18V-568 (Ford 18S27)In Regular Cab and SuperCrew trucks, front seat-belt pretensioners can throw excessive sparks when they deploy in a crash, igniting carpet/insulation and in some cases burning the truck. Ford recalled about 2 million 2015–2018 trucks (18V-568); dealers modify the B-pillar area with heat-resistant tape and shields free of charge.
Typical cost: Free under recall

About the Ford F-150
The Ford F-150 is America's best-selling vehicle, and the 2012–2025 span covers three mechanically distinct trucks. 5L EcoBoost twin-turbo, an engine that towed brilliantly but taught owners about intercooler condensation misfires and early timing-chain wear. 0L oil consumption (2018–2020).
5L PowerBoost full hybrid with Pro Power Onboard, and racked up a long but mostly software-fixable recall list. Across all three generations the bolt pattern is 6x135 with 150 lb-ft lug torque, wipers are 22 inches on both sides, and one Motorcraft FA-1883 engine air filter fits nearly every year, but oil specs, batteries, and transmission fluids changed repeatedly, which is exactly why owners look things up.
For how the specifications changed across every generation, see the full Ford F-150 guide.
