  • 8-speed automatic transmission failures (TSB + class action)

    Early 4th-gen trucks. Gas and hybrid, have documented 8AT problems ranging from harsh engagement and failure to shift to torque-converter DTCs and complete failure/limp mode at speed. Toyota's TSB T-SB-0076-24 (Sept 2024) authorizes free transmission and torque-converter replacement under warranty for trucks built before a production change, and a nationwide class action was filed in Nov 2024. If you feel slipping, flare, or clunks, document it and get the TSB applied while under the 5-yr/60k powertrain warranty.

  • Rear brake hoses chafe on mud/dirt buildup (recall)

    Off-road debris packing into the rear wheel area can rub through the rear flexible brake hoses over time, eventually leaking fluid and degrading braking. Toyota recalled 2024 Tacomas and replaces both rear hoses (with a revised design) free of charge.
