Privacy policy

WhichCarParts publishes vehicle maintenance specifications: oil types, battery sizes, tire fitment, and similar reference data, organised by year, make, and model. There are no user accounts, no login, no sign-up form, no checkout, and no comments section anywhere on the site. We cannot collect a password, a payment method, or a profile you never created.

The one interactive control on the site is the vehicle search box. It is a client-side component that filters a list of vehicles already loaded in your browser as you type, then sends you to the matching page. Your search text is never transmitted to a server, logged, or stored anywhere. It exists only in your browser's memory for as long as the page is open.

Where we have configured it, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. When active, it can set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser, and it collects an approximate location derived from your IP address, the pages you view, and general device and browser information. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we look at the results in aggregate only, as traffic patterns and popular pages, not as records of individual visits.

We do not run any advertising network, retargeting pixel, or data broker script on this site.

This site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel keeps standard request logs for the servers that deliver these pages: your IP address, your browser's user agent, and the URL you requested. This happens automatically for every visit to every website on the internet, and we treat Vercel as a hosting sub-processor handling that data on our behalf. We do not separately collect or store this information ourselves.

We do not set any cookies of our own. The only cookies that can appear on this site come from Google Analytics, and only when it is configured. You can block or delete these through your browser's cookie and site-data settings, or with a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts, without losing any functionality: nothing on this site depends on a cookie to work.

We link out to sources such as NHTSA and manufacturer documentation, and our vehicle photographs are sourced from Wikimedia Commons, credited on the credits page. Once you leave whichcarparts.com, that site's own privacy policy applies, not this one. We do not control what those sites collect and encourage you to review their policies if you have concerns.

This site is a general reference resource and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all through the site itself.

If you are in the UK or EU, data protection law gives you rights to access, correct, or request erasure of personal data, and to object to how it is processed. If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you similar rights, and we can confirm plainly: we do not sell or share personal information, and we never have. Because this site does not maintain accounts or profiles, there is generally nothing tied to you for us to look up, but if analytics or server logs have recorded something you want addressed, contact us and we will do our best to help.

We do not keep a database of visitors, so there is nothing we retain past what is described above. Google Analytics data, when active, is retained under Google's own default retention settings, and hosting request logs are retained under Vercel's standard operational retention period, not indefinitely.

If what this site collects ever changes, meaning we add accounts, e-commerce, or a new tracking tool, we will update this page and its last-updated date shown above. We do not expect that to happen often: the whole point of this site is to stay a simple reference.
