Does a 2020–2024 Tesla Model Y need the battery registered after replacement?

This is the low-voltage accessory battery, not the high-voltage pack. Vehicles built from launch through roughly late 2021 use a conventional AtlasBX/Hankook 85B24LS 12V 45Ah lead-acid battery (Tesla publishes a DIY replacement procedure; it lives under the front trunk apron). Vehicles built from approximately December 2021 onward (most 2022+ model years) instead use a Tesla-proprietary ~15.5V lithium-ion low-voltage battery that is far longer-lived but is a Tesla-service-only part. Check yours: a Li-ion car shows ~15–16V system voltage in service mode; when in doubt look at the battery label. Lead-acid cars commonly need a new 12V every 2–4 years, replace like-for-like; the car warns on screen when the battery is weak.
