What size battery does a Toyota RAV4 take?

BCI group 47 (H5/LN2), 2019–2020; 48 (H6/LN3), from ~2021. Group size is a physical dimension and terminal-position standard, so a battery from a different group may not clamp down or may put the terminals on the wrong side.

Gas models: early XA50s shipped with a DIN Group 47 (H5) battery; by 2021 the factory fit was the larger Group 48 (H6). The tray has two hold-down positions, so either size fits most years.
