Known problems with the 2024 Honda Accord

4 of the 4 issues we track for the 2023–2025 generation are documented against the 2024 model year, and 2 carry a recall or service bulletin.

  • Hybrid loss of drive power, software recall

    majorNHTSA 25V-785 (Honda TN2)

A programming error from Honda's supplier can make the integrated control module (ICM) reset while driving, cutting drive power until the system reboots, a serious hazard in traffic. Honda recalled about 256,600 US 2023–2025 Accord Hybrids in November 2025 (Honda campaign TN2); the fix is a free dealer software update. Check your VIN if you own any 11th-gen hybrid.

Typical cost: Free under recall (software update)

  • Front seat belt pretensioner missing rivet (recall)

    majorNHTSA 23V-782

Driver and front-passenger seat belt pretensioners may have been assembled without a rivet, so the belt may not restrain properly in a crash. Honda recalled 2023–2024 Accord and HR-V vehicles in November 2023; dealers inspect and replace the pretensioner assembly free.

    Typical cost: Free under recall

  • Infotainment / Google built-in glitches

    minor

Touring's Google-built-in head unit and the standard units draw complaints for freezes, wireless CarPlay dropouts, and slow boots, especially on 2023 cars. Over-the-air and dealer software updates have steadily improved it; a long-press of the power button reboots the unit. Software, not hardware, in most cases.

    Typical cost: $0 (software updates)

  • 1.5T oil dilution vigilance (carryover engine)

    minor

The 11th gen keeps the L15 1.5T, and while complaint volume is far lower than 2018–2019, the same short-trip fuel-dilution mechanism exists. Watch for an oil level above the full mark or a fuel smell on the dipstick and shorten change intervals for short-trip winter use. No recall or TSB campaign exists for 2023+.

Typical cost: $0 (extra oil changes)

About the Honda Accord

The Honda Accord is the Camry's perennial rival, and the 2013–2025 span covers three mechanically distinct cars that share Honda's reputation for long engine life and cheap consumables. 5L J35Y1 V6, the last Accord V6, and the only engine here with a timing belt to replace, plus a two-motor i-MMD hybrid in 2014–2015 and 2017; its documented weak spots are torque-converter judder in the CVT, grinding starters, and rattling VTC actuators. 0T with a 10-speed automatic, and a stronger hybrid, plus a big Denso fuel-pump recall and a 10-year warranty extension on leak-prone A/C condensers.

0L hybrid the volume powertrain; a quarter-million 2023–2025 hybrids were recalled in late 2025 for control-module software that can cut drive power. 3 with 80 ft-lb lug torque, key fobs take a CR2032, and there is no fixed service schedule, the Maintenance Minder computes oil life and flags codes for filters, fluids, and plugs.
