No. The procedure above uses the vehicle's own controls. A scan tool is only necessary if the reset does not take, which usually points at a different fault. ### Why won't the oil light reset on a 2019-2025 Toyota RAV4? Almost always a timing problem in the sequence, a step held too briefly, or the ignition in the wrong position. Repeat it exactly, with the engine off and the key in accessory rather than run, unless the steps say otherwise. The XA50 dropped the old trip-meter hold trick. Resets live in the instrument cluster's Settings (gear icon) menu. Reset the oil counter only after an actual oil change. Same procedure for gas, hybrid, and Prime; the 2023+ facelift's 12.3-in cluster uses the same menu path. ## Sources - [Toyota technical data, RAV4 XA50 fluids & capacities (toyota-club.net)](https://toyota-club.net/files/techdata/ttx/rav4_50u.htm) - [Toyota of Glendale, RAV4 oil type & capacity guide 2013-2026](https://www.toyotaofglendale.com/service/service-parts-tips/rav4-oil-type-capacity/) - [NHTSA recall 20V-682, Denso fuel pump (Part 573 report, includes 2019-2020 RAV4)](https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2020/RCLRPT-20V682-3280.PDF) - [Toyota safety recall 20TA02, fuel pump campaign details (oemdtc)](https://toyota.oemdtc.com/822/safety-recall-20ta02-vehicle-may-stall-during-driving-at-higher-speed-2014-2020-toyota) - [Toyota Customer Support Program 24TE04, flow shut-off valve (coolant bypass) coverage](https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/new-customer-support-program-for-coolant-bypass-valve.1792452/) - [Toyota parts, 17801-F0050 engine air filter (oempartsonline)](https://toyota.oempartsonline.com/oem-parts/toyota-air-filter-17801f0050) - [RAV4World / ToyotaNation, XA50 12V battery sizes (H5 2019-2020, H6 2021+, hybrid LN1)](https://www.rav4world.com/threads/12-volt-battery-replacement.341237/) - [Goodyear fitment, 2021 RAV4 tire sizes by trim](https://www.goodyear.com/en-us/vehicles/Toyota/RAV4/2021) - [TirePressure.org, 2021 Toyota RAV4 placard pressures](https://tirepressure.org/toyota/rav4/2021) - [fueleconomy.gov, 2021 RAV4 / RAV4 Prime EPA ratings](https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/2021_Toyota_RAV4.shtml) - [XenonPro, 2019-2021 RAV4 bulb chart (LED headlights, H11 fogs)](https://www.xenonpro.com/blogs/home/2019-to-2021-toyota-rav4-headlight-bulb-sizes) ## Other Toyota RAV4 generations - [2013-2018 Toyota RAV4 oil life reset](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2013-2018/oil-reset) Or [compare all generations](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/oil-reset). ## More for the 2019-2025 Toyota RAV4 - [Oil & filter](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/oil) - [Battery](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/battery) - [Tires & wheels](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/tires) - [Wiper blades](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/wipers) - [Air & cabin filters](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/filters) - [Bulbs](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/bulbs) - [Brakes](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/brakes) - [Fluids](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/fluids) - [Service schedule](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/service-schedule) - [Problems & reliability](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/common-problems) - [Key fob battery](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/key-fob-battery) - [Specs](https://whichcarparts.com/cars/toyota/rav4/2019-2025/specs) Specifications vary with engine option, production date, and market.
