Part of Toyota's massive multi-model fuel pump recall; dealers replace the fuel pump assembly free. Check your VIN, the campaign was amended repeatedly (2020-2025). NHTSA 20V-012, expanded under 20V-682 (Toyota 20TA02); further amended Jan 2025 (25V-028). Typical cost: Free under recall; ~$500-$900 if a failed pump is replaced outside recall scope. ### Brake booster vacuum pump failure (recall) (major) The engine-driven brake vacuum pump's vane cap can break, killing power brake assist, the pedal goes hard and stopping distances grow. Toyota recalled 227,490 2018-2019 Camrys; dealers inspect and repair or replace the pump free of charge. NHTSA 21V-890 (Toyota 21TB09/21TA09); earlier related recall J0K. Typical cost: Free under recall. ### 8-speed transmission hesitation / harsh low-speed shifts (minor) Early UA80E 8-speeds draw complaints for hesitation on tip-in, flare between 1st-3rd, and clunky low-speed downshifts.
