# 2020-2025 Subaru Outback Headlight and Bulb Sizes

Headlight bulb types vary by trim on the 2020-2025 Subaru Outback. Full bulb chart for every position, plus whether LED replacements fit the factory housings.

## 2020-2025 Subaru Outback bulb chart

| Position | Bulb type |
| --- | --- |
| Low beam | LED (Steering Responsive LED headlights standard on most trims) |
| High beam | LED |
| note | Base trim on some early model years retained halogen; most 2021+ trims are full LED |

Note: Bulb fitments can vary with option packages (halogen vs. LED lighting). Confirm the bulb you are removing matches before ordering.

## Which Subaru Outback model years does this cover?

These headlight bulbs specifications apply to every Subaru Outback built from 2020 through 2025, the BT (6th generation), mid-size wagon/crossover (subaru global platform). Nothing in this specification changes between those model years.

## What changed during the 2020-2025 Subaru Outback

| Years | What changed |
| --- | --- |
| 2020 | Generation launch on the Subaru Global Platform; direct-injected FB25D replaces the port-injected FB25; 3.6R/EZ36 discontinued; EyeSight standard |
| 2022 | Wilderness trim introduced. First Outback to use the turbocharged 2.4L FA24F, plus raised suspension, all-terrain tires, and a full-size spare option |
| 2023 | XT trims (Touring XT, Onyx Edition XT, Limited XT) broaden 2.4T availability beyond Wilderness; minor styling refresh |
| 2025 | Final model year of this generation before the next redesign; largely a carryover year |

## 2020-2025 Subaru Outback headlight bulbs: common questions

### What headlight bulb does a 2020-2025 Subaru Outback use?

LED (Steering Responsive LED headlights standard on most trims) for the low beam and LED for the high beam. Trims with factory LED or HID projectors use a sealed assembly instead and are not bulb-serviceable.

### Can you put LED bulbs in a 2020-2025 Subaru Outback?

Physically, yes, LED replacements exist in every common base. Whether they work well depends on the housing: a reflector housing designed around a halogen filament scatters LED output into oncoming traffic instead of down the road. Projector housings tolerate the swap far better. Some vehicles also flag the lower current draw as a bulb-out fault.
