No. The procedure above uses the vehicle's own controls. A scan tool is only necessary if the reset does not take, which usually points at a different fault. ### Why won't the oil light reset on a Hyundai Elantra? Almost always a timing problem in the sequence, a step held too briefly, or the ignition in the wrong position. Repeat it exactly, with the engine off and the key in accessory rather than run, unless the steps say otherwise. The CN7 generation replaced the old trip-odometer-hold trick with a proper digital cluster menu (Setup > Vehicle > Cluster > Service Interval > Reset). Reset only after an actual oil change. ## Sources - [Ontario Hyundai, Elantra oil type & capacity by model year (2021-2026 engines)](https://www.ontariohyundai.com/service/service-and-parts-tips/hyundai-elantra-oil-type/) - [AMSOIL lookup, 2022 Elantra 2.0L Smartstream MPI oil spec/capacity](https://www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2022/hyundai/elantra/2-0l-4-cyl-engine-code-g-g/) - [AMSOIL lookup, 2022 Elantra 1.6L Hybrid oil spec/capacity](https://www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2022/hyundai/elantra/1-6l-4-cyl-engine-code-c-c/) - [AMSOIL lookup, 2022 Elantra N 2.0L Turbo oil spec/capacity](https://www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2022/hyundai/elantra-n/2-0l-4-cyl-engine-code-h-h-turbo/) - [OilShop.ca, 2025 Elantra N oil type, capacity, filter](https://www.oilshop.ca/blog/2025-hyundai-elantra-n-oil-type-oil-filter-oil-change-interval-and-oil-capacity-information) - [Konig Wheels fit check, Elantra N factory wheel/tire fitment (245/35R19, 5x114.3)](https://konigwheels.com/blogs/fit-check/hyundai-elantra-n-fit-check) - [Michelin USA, Elantra N tire sizes and pressures](https://www.michelinman.com/auto/manufacturers/hyundai/elantra-n) - [Paragon/EBay, Elantra N 360mm front brake rotor OE diameter](https://paragonbrakes.com/paragon-2-piece-rotors-front-pair-360x30mm-hyundai-elantra-n/) - [NHTSA recall 22V-123/22V-218/22V-354, seat belt pretensioner explosion risk](https://api.nhtsa.gov/recalls/recallsByVehicle?make=hyundai&model=elantra&modelYear=2022) - [NHTSA recall 24V-879, rearview camera failure](https://api.nhtsa.gov/recalls/recallsByVehicle?make=hyundai&model=elantra&modelYear=2022) - [NHTSA recall 24V-308, EGR valve electrical short](https://api.nhtsa.gov/recalls/recallsByVehicle?make=hyundai&model=elantra&modelYear=2024) - [fueleconomy.gov, 2022 Elantra EPA ratings (all trims incl.
